Too Much Of Anything Isn't Good For You

March 8, 2018

This morning, as I was putting dishes in the dishwasher I began to think about cleaning products.  I was thinking that I needed to get more bleach for cleaning my kitchen because it just won't smell clean to me without the smell of bleach.  And then I began to recall that as a child, my mother trained me to clean, and one time, she mixed ammonia and bleach in water to wipe the walls down.  She had every window open because the fumes were literally breathtaking, but it didn't discourage her from continuing. Thankfully, she didn't have me help with this task.  Several days later, she became very sick with breathing difficulties, and it was traced back to using both bleach and ammonia at the same time. So in an effort to be as clean as possible, this was actually too much.

While we may think that saturating ourselves with one thing and one thing only is productive, it can lead to a very unbalanced life.  Human beings are multi-faceted, and can comprehend, experience and enjoy more than one thing at a time.  It's ridiculous to think or be told what you should or shouldn't do based on the opinions and experiences of others.  The only thing I will say is to make sure your experiences or enjoyments don't affect your morals, standards or values.  Nothing should trump them or the commitments you have.
