New Roles

March 22, 2019

I’m sure we’ve all heard the saying, ‘People come into your life for a reason, a season or a lifetime.’  We may not always immediately realize which category they fall into but rest assured, time will reveal (insert song by Debarge). Individuals can present themselves as one way, but eventually, the facade gives way to the true person.  We have to be open and ready to adapt to the change of the role that they may play (or not play) in our lives.

When someone’s role in your life changes, there is no need to feel guilty, or feel that you have wasted time. Perhaps you went against your norm and tried something new and different, and it didn’t turn out the way you expected, but you may have learned something about yourself along the way. You’ve learned what you will accept, and what you won’t accept.  Sometimes, you don’t know your limitations until certain situations are presented.  Don’t lower your expectations or compromise your standards for anyone, because I’m sure that no one will compromise theirs for you, and you shouldn’t want them to.
